“The wound is the place where the light enters.”
-Rumi
Although I did not know it then, my journey to becoming a psychologist began when I first came across this powerful piece by Rumi. I was seventeen at the time, unaware of the transformative potential of moving towards my wounds instead of turning away from them. It is through my deep and consistent practice of meeting my own shadows that I facilitate my professional therapeutic work.
My relational psychodynamic approach prioritizes the therapeutic relationship as one that can potentially carry us towards the original wound with the awareness that these achy places within us are often in desperate need of our compassionate curiosity and care.
My work is informed by Jungian theory, Eastern philosophy, and decolonial practices. I am interested in supporting my clients in building relationships with their bodies, becoming more aware of the movement of their minds, and ultimately building tolerance to sit with even the most painful and uncomfortable parts of themselves. It is through this practice of really being with ourselves that we become more available and alive.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are interested in working together.
